There's nothing quite like homemade ice cream, especially on a hot summer day! Now you can make your own gluten free ice cream without all of the sucralose, maltodextrin, high fructose corn syrup, and other fillers and stabilizers you find in store-bought brands. It's made of just real, all-natural ingredients....and tastes oh so good!
Step 1: Get an ice cream maker! I got this one from Cuisinart for about $60.
Step 2: Find a recipe that's gluten-free and only uses natural ingredients. I've found a ton online and experimented with lots of different flavors. Here's my recipe for the absolute best-ever CHOCOLATE Gluten-Free Ice Cream.
1/2 c. Hershey's natural unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/3 c. dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 c. half & half (or whole milk)
2 c. heavy cream
1/2 tablespoon gluten-free vanilla
Step 3: Use a hand mixer or whisk and beat together the milk, cocoa, sugars, and salt. Then with a wooden spoon, stir in the heavy cream and vanilla.
Step 4: Cover and refrigerate the mixture at least one hour (or overnight).
Step 5: Turn ON the ice cream maker and slowly pour in the mixture.
Step 6: In about 20 minutes......it will look like this:
...and wah-lah! It's as simple as that! You can also get creative and add in chocolate chips, almonds, berries, marshmallows....anything you'd like! I love mixing my chocolate ice cream with peanut butter....since it isn't fattening enough just by itself ;)
I should also mention......this stuff is SO GOOD.... your clothes may not fit the next day ;) But hey, we've all got to live a little, right! :) Hope you enjoy ~
